I figured I should let you check out my place of employment now that the school year is almost over and all.
The small street leading up to the school. The songthaews (trucks)on the left sit there all day waiting for the students to get out of school. Most of the drivers just sleep in the back all day. Very strange. They could be making money driving around, but I guess they just need their beauty sleep.
Another street view. The cart on the right is where I get my lunch almost every day.
School fence.
Entrance to the school.
Entrance again, with the security hut. The security guys sit there all day doing nothing. In the morning there are teachers standing outside greeting the students and sometimes cutting the student's hair if it's too long. We have seen clumps of human hair just laying at the entrance of school.
Road past the entrance leading up to the school and a statue of one of the old kings. One day we had to stand in front of that statue for an hour watching the Thai teachers sing to it and talk to it. Also, when the students are late, they have to go stand in front of this statue.
Walkway to keep you nice and dry from the rain and nice and cool from the sun.
There's that king again, with the library behind him, and a small pond that you can't see.
The king made it to a lot of these pictures.
This is where the students have assembly every morning. They sing the national anthem, say a lot of prayers and some teacher or important school figure lectures them for about 20 minutes. Every. Single. Morning.
Students sitting at the assembly twiddling their thumbs and getting lectured to.
Another view of where they assemble.
The entrance of my office. These two girls were checking out making fun of the pictures of the English teachers. Our pictures are very unflattering.
This is where the magic happens aka my office, where teachers love to play on facebook, play some weird computer games, or chat about the "farang" all day. Clearly, the girl in the back is the hardest working of them all. The rest of the teachers are not seen because they are on the other computers.
Just the beautiful hallway on the way to my classroom.
This is where I educate the students. Nineteen out of my twenty classes are taught in this room. Luckily, there is air conditioning and fans!
The front of the classroom.
Parking lot for our motorbike. That orange and black bad boy on the left would be our motorbike.
The school cafeteria, where the students love to sip on sugary drinks, eat some rice, or copy other students' homework.
The students hard at work playing football. I have some students that I see outside all day playing. Class is only the second most important thing.
I'm loving your blog! How cool that you're an English teacher in Thailand! Very awesome. Can't wait to see what else you share here : ]
