let me introduce you to my students: 5/6.

I don't even know where to begin with these goobs. I just love 'em so much. I looked forward to class with them every single day. The one day a week that I did not have them, my day seemed a little less exciting. There was just something about every single student in this class, that made me laugh, that made me excited about teaching. Most of the students in the class were super smart and hard working. And then there were four students, that I saw maybe 10 times the entire school year. That was so frustrating to me. When they did come to class, it seemed as if the fun was sucked out of the classroom. They had attitudes and never did anything. One of these four students really drove me crazy. He would leave me shaking with anger any day he would come to class. One day he showed up and he actually started doing his work and speaking English to me. Then all of a sudden he started showing up every day. Every day his attitude seemed a little better. And we started to get along. He began to add to the positivity that I always felt in the class. It made me so happy. The three others did not make such a turn around, but that one student that did will always remind me that teaching is worth it, even if you can only encourage and really teach one student. I literally had tears in my eyes saying bye to these kids. They are seriously awesome and I will forever remember this crazy bunch of 5/6 students.

  1. For some reason just looking at all of you guys together laughing brings tears to my eyes - I know too well what it means to say good bye to people you had a long journey with... and that one student proves how amazing of a teacher you are, because the moment he opened his world to the English language you were there to encourage him and reach out to him and that's why he turned around... that's an incredible story!
