chiang mai drinks: roastniyom coffee

After living in Chiang Mai for 6 months, I have decided to start a little series called Chiang Mai Eats and Chiang Mai Drinks. Part of my love for this city is the variety of restaurants and coffee shops. I mean, it bums me out to think that I probably won't get to try every restaurant and coffee shop in this city, but the ones I do get to try and the ones that I have to keep coming back to, I want to document. Especially if you ever find yourself in this city. 

To begin with, I wanted to share with you the best place to find a flavored latte. Roastniyom Coffee. 

There are three locations for this coffee shop. 

The best one is just around the corner from my apartment

 at the new JJ Market. 

As soon as you open the door, you are greeted by the friendliest staff. 

Sawadee-ka(krup) (hello) the staff quickly says as you walk in. 

By now, after my twentieth some visit, they know exactly what I want. 

This coffee shop is a Thai hangout, so it is easy for them to 

remember the blonde girl that pops in 

every couple of days to order a macaroon latte. 

Now the important stuff: the macaroon latte. 

Oh my! This is the best flavored latte to ever hit my mouth. 

And at 60 Baht ($2) how can you beat it. 

Seriously, it's not too sweet. Perfectly flavored. 

The coffee mixed with the macaroon flavor is perfection.

If you aren't into the coconut flavored coffee, they have other flavors such as

hazelnut (Stephan's favorite), vanilla, toffee nut, or caramel. 

Honestly, I haven't even tried the latter three because I am so hooked 

on the macaroon flavor. 

While you sip on your flavored latte,

you can take in the coffee shop atmosphere and

stare at the hip Thais playing computer games or 

studying English. 

You can also listen to the Thai music calmly playing over the speakers. 

It's usually a Thai girl covering songs by Beyonce or Backstreet Boys. 

But pop your headphones right in if you want to 

wash those sounds out. 

Also, this place has the best chairs. 

You know how some coffee shops

have that one corner with the comfy couch and the cushioned chairs

and everyone wants to sit in that one area? 

Well, here

there are multiple comfy chairs and couches 

and I don't think my 

bum has touched a wooden chair since I've been coming.
