tidbits.

// My nose will not stop running, my whole body is itchy and I keep sneezing and no one in this office EVER says "bless you". I never realized how weird it was to not have anybody say anything to a sneeze. My allergies are just the worst in this country. I think it is the cats that like to take over the building I live in. Their dander must sneak in under my door. Also speaking of this office, there sure is horrible English communication between these teachers who teach English. They cannot form complete sentences to tell me that there is a package in the office and that we have to pay 7 Baht. One of them couldn't even say the number 7 in English. And she is an English teacher! I CAN COUNT TO 100 IN THAI. Once I figured out what they were saying between about 10 teachers, I finally figured out I had a package.

// Stephan is super sick, like bronchitis or strep or some weird sickness found only in Thailand. Poor guy's eyes are so red and there is a weazy sound that comes out of him when he breaths. And all he has been eating is rice soup and watermelon shakes. It's a great combination I tell ya and the only thing that will slip down his super swollen throat.

// I kicked a kid out of class yesterday for the first time. Whenever I have to be stern with my students my heart starts racing and I get really shakey and nervous. Sometimes I am not meant to be an authoritative figure. This boy in particular likes to not come to class or come to class and keep his backpack on the whole time and play on his phone and throw paper airplanes and then answer his phone in the middle of class. So I took his phone and told him to leave. Clearly, he was ready to leave with his backpack on and all. So eventually after telling him to leave v e r y   s l o w l y and him finally understanding he stood up and tried to take his phone back, but I told him he could come get it when I was finished with class. Phew I still feel bad about doing this, but some kids think they can run all over the English teachers just because we cannot understand their language and they probably know that we really have not a clue what is going on around school or even in the classroom.

// We had Wednesday off of school for "Teacher's Day". It was great. I slept in, went to breakfast and came back and layed around all day. Stephan and I should have probably gone somewhere to appreciate the fact that we are teachers and we get days off for being one, but it was nice to just chill out.

// After the office ordeal, Stephan and I went to find our package. It was a care package from a sweet friend that Stephan has known for a long time and I feel like I have known her forever. It was full of yummy goodies from home and a sweet card full of love and encouragement. I can't wait to sit in bed and eat cookie butter by the spoonfuls and sip on some ginger tea. And she even sent some emergen-C just in time. She used to live in Thailand and she knows the ups and downs that come with living here. Too bad she moved home a few months after we moved here, but we did get to experience one fun weekend with her in Thailand. And I must say it was one of the best weekends we have had.

// And in true teaching in Thailand form, next week we have Thursday and Friday off. Wanna know why? Oh just because the younger students have to go camping and some of the teachers will be going with them, so no school. Fine. By. Me. This means there are only three more full weeks of classes to teach. I cannot believe the end of the school year is coming up so fast. So, next week Stephan and I are planning taking a trip to Koh Lipe and Koh Phi Phi to celebrate an early Valetine's Day/ End of the semester/ We survived Nakhon Si Thammarat. Can't wait!

  1. Hi! Thanks for linking up with us for Life Lately!

So, you really need to tell me what cookie butter is. That sounds REALLY interesting. And, I'm also kind of curious about the rice soup and watermelon shakes. :)

I'm so glad you linked with us, I need to follow you and hear more about your adventures in Thailand!

    1. Hi!! Thanks for reading! Cookie butter is this deliciousness made out of crushed cookies and tastes like gingerbread spread. Apparently you can get it from Trader Joes. It has the consistency of peanut butter. It's so good!! And rice soup is a typical breakfast/meal here here with egg, ginger, green onions, and garlic!

      :)
