Let's rewind// Halong Bay, Vietnam

After moving back from Thailand, I neglected this space, but I still have so many pictures left from Chiang Mai and even Vietnam and Cambodia that I want to share. Oh man, I'm really behind.

So last April, Stephan and I traveled through Vietnam and Cambodia. I posted about Hanoi and Sapa. Those were our first two stops on our itinerary. After Sapa, we returned to Hanoi for a night and then headed to Halong Bay. We did a one night cruise through Halong Bay. The weather wasn't the best for being out in the water, but it made for a misty and eerie view. The cruise through Halong Bay was really enjoyable and Halong Bay is beautiful, but to me it is a little overrated. The water is filthy, the boat cruises are mediocre and there are only so many jutting limestone cliffs you need to see. The experience and the people we met on our cruise made it worth it, but if you every find yourself in Vietnam and you have a time constraint, I recommend going to Sapa over Halong Bay or even Ninh Binh which is two hours south of Hanoi.
