So Abdul, the guy from Malaysia that we met, set up a tuk tuk driver to take us to Samila Beach, Dragon Beach and on a ferry to an island. The island happened to basically be crossing over a small river right back to the same “island” we were on but still it was wondaful! Samila Beach was the first beach we went to here in Thailand and it was beautiful, but was not the sort of “Thai” beach we were expecting. We went with 6 of our new friends and relaxed on the beach and ate a 3 hour meal that consisted of…rice. Yes, they often forget your orders here in Thailand and that seemed to happen on this day. It’s frustrating when it happens because it is such an effort to get across what you are trying to order. Then, once it finally comes out you better hope it’s what you wanted because good luck trying to tell them it’s the wrong thing. Anyways, after Samila Beach we went to dragon beach and played in the water shooting out of a dragon statue mouth. It sounds weird but it was actually really neat! The tuk tuk driver then took us to the ferry. The ferry took a whole 3 minutes to cross the river and then we continued on our drive back to Hat Yai. Let me tell you, it was just nice getting out of our stinky hotel and the stuffy air of Hat Yai.
